Nature-loving kids this club is for you!
Junior Conservation Club is the perfect platform to encourage those who are passionate about the environment, and don't mind getting their hands a little dirty. With a focus on nature and providing opportunities to learn new skills and meet new friends, we guide you towards hands-on ways to help our native plants and animals. We will spark inspiration and a connection with nature. Come along and get involved in our diverse monthly activities.
Sessions are for kids only, however some sessions invite families to attend. Please check below for details.
Sessions are held at Cleland Wildlife Park and will run for 2-hours once a month between March and November, with each month focusing on a different topic.
Spots are limited per session, so be quick to select the dates you wish to book.
Program Details:
Time: 10.00am – 12.00noon
Age: 8 – 14 years
Capacity: Maximum of 15 children per session
Day: Last Sunday of every month (except for the Cleland Blitz, and October
Night Walk which occur on Saturdays, see below)

Sessions in detail 2024:
March - Sunday 24th - 'ANIMAL CARE' - Get involved with creating enrichment objects for our very chatty cockatoos, and other animals too. Discover their unique characteristics and needs. Cleland Wildlife Park is home to a diverse range of native animal species. Find out how they survive.
April - Sunday 28th - 'PROPAGATING PLANTS' - What does propagate mean? Come along and find out. We will be getting our hands dirty and finding out the many uses of native seeds, and threats to our native flora. Please bring a water bottle and gardening gloves.
May - Saturday 11th - 'CLELAND BLITZ' – Bring your family, roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty at the Cleland Blitz! Kids and their families help clean up the park, learn about wildlife, habitat and conservation, then feast on a free sausage sizzle lunch. Please bring a water bottle and gardening gloves. (Family invited)

June - Sunday 23rd - 'BUSH CARE ' - Cleland Wildlife Park is well known for its native Australian animals, but it is also contains a patch of important native remnant vegetation. This vegetation provides habitat for many native animals, and contributes to the biodiversity of the park. Please bring a water bottle and gardening gloves. (Family invited)
July - Sunday 28th - 'TREE PLANTING' Learn about the importance of trees in our environment, and native plants in your area. Become familiar with them and get active by planting some local species. Please bring a water bottle and gardening gloves. (Family invited)
August - Sunday 25th - 'BUSH WALK' - Lets find out the importance of being safe in the bush, with a focus on being safe around wildlife, assembling outdoor shelters and going for a bush walk in the Cleland National Park. August is a great time to start seeing native wattles flowering. Please bring a water bottle and your sense of adventure. (Family invited)
September - Sunday 29th - 'MINI MOMENTS WITH MINI BEASTS' – Come along and discover more about our unique Australian animals, specifically our invertebrate group. Find out more about the survival of our creepy crawly, but very important, invertebrates which we share our world with.
October - Saturday 12th - NIGHT WALK - 'CREATURES OF THE NIGHT' – Cleland Wildlife Park is home to many nocturnal creatures. This session will introduce you to some of our native animals, and familiarise yourself with their unique abilities to survive at night. November - Sunday 24th - 'ANIMAL CREATIONS' - Get involved with creating enrichment objects for our unique Aussie animals. Cleland Wildlife Park is home to a diverse range of native Australian species. Find out how they survive in the wild, and the importance of being a keeper in the zoo world.
